March 31, 2010 - Lunch

I was craving something today, so I went for it. The work cafeteria (I almost said school cafeteria, lol) had nothing that interested me today, so I headed over to Westshore Pizza and got two cheese slices, to go. So good to me. A Diet Coke would have been SO good with the pizza today, but I didn't...but I was tempted.

March 31, 2010 - Breakfast

I made time for breakfast this morning, and I was late for work again. Can't get this morning thing to work for me since we sprang forward. Anyway, a bowl of raisin bran was breakfast. Enjoyable.

March 30, 2010 - Dinner

Troy made a delicious batch of chili last night. We ate it with elbow macaroni and extra sharp Wisconsin cheddar cheese. It was very, very good. Thanks Kid!

March 30, 2010 - Lunch

Today I enjoyed a left over enchilada from last night's dinner. I sware they are better the next day! Yummmm-O!

March 30, 2010 - Breakfast...

...or lack there of. I had to make an effort to get to work on time this morning, and breakfast did not fit into my schedule. Looks like an early lunch today!

March 29, 2010 - Dinner

Tonite I made my world-famous chicken enchiladas. I thought I had made these for Troy before, but after he said, in a happy voice, "David, I am very disappointed in you. Why haven't you made these for me before?", I knew that I hadn't, and that he loved them! So yummy.

March 29, 2010 - Lunch

I wandered over to the cafeteria here at work and looked for some lunch. Soup choices were brocoli and cheddar, or some kind of other unrecognizable swill. Salad bar picked over, sandwich line too long. So I wandered back to my office and ate half a peanut butter sandwich, which was one piece of bread, smeared with peanut butter and folded in half. Filled me up.

March 29, 2010 - Breakfast

Yay for raisin bran! It was very good to me this morning.

March 28, 2010 - Dinner

Ok, so I am a few days behind. Blogger wouldn't let me create posts yesterday, and to be honest, I have forgotten what I had for lunch and dinner on Sunday. So I will consult with Troy, and I will update these two posts later.

March 28, 2010 - Breakfast

Troy was in the mood for a breakfast sandwich of some sort, so we headed out to Publix to find some Texas Toast to fill with eggs, turkey sausage, and cheese. We couldn't find Texas Toast, so we got some good looking hoagie rolls and decided this new dish would be called...ahem...breakfast hoagies! LOL

Got home, scrambled up some eggs, forgot the sausage, and grilled the hoagie rolls, which then were filled with the egge and cheese. Messy, messy, messy. Thank goodness we also had some cinnamon rolls because I was not impressed with my creation. Next time, we will try folded eggs instead of scrambled.

March 27, 2010 - Dinner

Troy, Kim, and I went to Hellas in Tarpon Springs for dinner. We had hummus as an appetizer, then Troy ordered spaghetti, Kim had the combo platter, which was spanikopita and cheese pie and veggies, and I had pastitsio, which came with the most delicious green beans, and lemony greek potatos. It was fabulous!!!

March 27, 2010 - Lunch

I had a wonderful empanada for lunch, with Texas Pete hot sauce and sour cream. It was delish!

March 27, 2010 - Breakfast

We tried to go to Firstwatch for breakfast this morning, and so did everyone else in Clearwater. So we ended up at Denny's. We had our favorite little waitress Carol. I had the French Toast slam. The bacon was gross, and their water tasted weird. However, the french toast was pretty darn good! Troy had a Grand Slam with the same nasty bacon, which he sent back and got more sausage. All in all, ok food at a good prices, and the friendliest service you can find anywhere.

March 26 - Dinner

So dinner last night was a dud. We had pre-made slider patties, which I cooked, and slider rolls. I put the sliders on the buns, with swiss cheese for Troy, and extra sharp cheddar for me. Troy's buns got soggy (hee hee!), and he tried to eat them without the bread, but they just didn't taste right. Thank goodness we had chips and dip.

March 25, 2010 - Lunch

This morning, I got my water bottle filled with limes, ice, and water, and set it on the counter to grab on my way out the door. Trouble is, I never grabbed it on the way out the door. Since I am on day two of my quest to kick the Diet Coke habit, which is going quite well - thanks for asking, I need to have a drink available at all times so I don't get weak and head for the soda machine in the break room.

SO, I went to Target at lunch again today and bought another water bottle, so I will always have one here at work, just in case. I left a couple of limes here yesterday as well, so now I am all set.

When I was leaving Target, I saw Chipotle across the parking lot, and headed over and got a salad with pinto beans, chicken, two kinds of salsa, sour cream, and cheese. It was delicioso!

This is the first photo of my actual meal. I will try to do that more often as I get into this blog/food journal. The cup you see in the picture is filled with ice, which I paid full price for so I would have ice for the new water bottle.

March 25, 2010 - Breakfast

I so wanted another chicken biscuit this morning, but I actually used my will power! I had a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats cereal. It was pretty tasty! I actually was craving raisin bran, so I might have to dig some up here soon.

March 24, 2010 - Dinner

Troy made soft tacos for dinner last night. I ate A LOT of them, and they were yummy. ground beef, tomatos, extra sharp Wisconsin cheddar, jalepenos, and sour cream, all wrapped up in soft flour tortillas. Pugs loved them too!

March 24, 2010 - Lunch

Lunch was a bit more successful than breakfast, at least from a health stand point. I have been contemplating giving up my daily over-consumption of Diet Coke. Someone who works in my building has a water bottle filled with water and limes with her at all times. I thought this was a great idea, and I LOVE limes, so I decided I would do the same thing, in an attempt to kick the Diet Coke habit.

I went to Target at lunch time and bought a large, insulated water bottle (identical to the picture), then went next door to Publix and bought limes to go in the bottle with water. I am halfway through my second bottle of water, so I think this might be a success!

While at Publix, I picked up a small container of Savory Tarragon Chicken Breast Salad with almonds from the deli, and had half of it on two slices of whole grain bread. A welcome change from PB and Nanner. I also found a peach that actually smells like a peach, and I plan to eat that a little later this afternoon.

Wish me luck for dinner!

March 24, 2010 - Breakfast

I am weak. I am the first to admit it. I went to McDonald's this morning and had a chicken biscuit. It was delicious, and I refuse to apologize for it. There, I said it. Don't judge me. YOU DON'T KNOW ME LIKE THAT!

March 23, 2010 - Dinner

So we were lazy tonite. Troy ordered take out. Pizza Hut Pasta pairs. We had Chicken Alfredo, Meat Sauce Pasta, and bread sticks. It was not all that healthy, but oh so tasty!

March 23, 2010 - Lunch

Second verse, same as the first. PB and Nanner sammich...and the rest of my diet coke from this morning. I am full, and don't feel like I need a snack. That is a good thing, and will keep me away from the snack machine this afternoon.

March 23, 2010 - Brekky, as my friend Julie would call it.

Same ol' thing this morning - two 7-minute boiled eggs (10 minutes made the yolk too hard yesterday), and one piece of dry toast. I STILL didn't find the spray butter, but it is on my shopping list for later. Troy bought me some large to-go cups so I can take diet coke with me on the road, so no danger of stopping at Mickey D's this morning.

March 22, 2010 - Dinner

We had Jeremy the A/C guy at the house giving our old and deteriorating air conditioning unit a cleaning and tune-up for the approaching hot season, so dinner was delayed. When Troy and I finally did eat after 8 o'clock, we had cashew chicken over jasmine rice, and egg rolls. No, it wasn't the healthiest dinner ever, but it was pretty tasty. I didn't make it from scratch. In fact, I have never tried to make chinese food from scratch. Note to self... Anyway, our dinner was a Wanchai Ferry dinner kit. We are big fans of the Orange Chicken too, but we didn't have one of those on-hand. And for the record, the frozen meals are not nearly as good as the dry kits that you add your own meat too. The frozen meals say they are for two, but I don't think they mean two humans. There might be enough for two birds, or two small Kate Moss-type aliens, but definitely not two men with hearty appetites. Check out Wanchai Ferry here.

I will soon be including pictures of what I eat. I just haven't gotten that part together yet.

March 22, 2010 - Lunch

I was off a little on breakfast this morning, so I thought long and hard about a healthly lunch. Sushi? No, I would have to get brown rice, and I am not in the mood for brown rice. Turkey sandwich from Panera? No, I don't want to wait in line, and Panera gets crazy at lunch time. Work cafeteria? Blech. They do have salad, and some other healthy choices, but...just blech!

I got in the car with no lunch or destination planned. A bad idea, perhaps, but it was already 12:45 and lunch time was running short. I drove in the general direction of all food sources in the area. All of the sudden I heard a voice in my head say, "Peanut butter sandwich!"

Yes! A peanut butter sandwich. No sugar added peanut butter, to be precise. Simply Jif. It's quite good at two grams of sugar, and loaded with eight grams of protein per two Tablespoons. I headed straight for the local supermarket, which is quite convenient to the office, and picked up peanut butter, multi-grain bread, and bananas. I thought the banana would be a good sweet snack for the afternoon. Turns out, it was SPECTACULAR on the sandwich itself!

And yes, I washed it down with yet another Diet Coke. One day, I will give that habit up too. For now, it stays.

Ok, so lunch for the rest of the week is going to be boring, at least as far as this blog is concerned, but at least it will be healthy!

March 22, 2010 - Breakfast

I was feeling good this morning when I put two eggs in a pot of water to boil for ten minutes. No runny eggs here. I then slid two slices of multi-grain bread into the toaster and pressed the lever down. I couldn't find the spray butter that I know I have at least two bottles of. Our fridge is a black whole - food goes in, and may never come out.

Ten minutes passed, and I took the pot off the stove and ran cold water over the eggs to cool them. Easy peel today. Then I sprinkled the eggs with sea salt and freshly-ground Malabar pepper. I placed the toast slices on my sunshine plate, next to the perfectly-white eggs, and sat down to enjoy my breakfast. The eggs were perfect. The yolks were solid but soft. A deep, golden yellow. The toast was tasty, but dry (where IS that spray butter?)

Oh, I forgot to mention the McDonald's sausage biscuit I picked up on the way to work. I had to put gas in the car, and McDonald's was next door. I thought it would be nice to get a Diet Coke for the morning, and the next thing I know I have ordered a biscuit to wash down with that Diet Coke. Oh well. It was tasty, and it could have been worse. I could have ordered two biscuits.

Who cares what David eats?

Frankly, I don't care who cares what I eat. With that said, I would love it if people would read by new blog about ALL of food that I eat.

I had this idea the other day when I was thinking about healthier eating and food journaling. I am also a big fan of the book Everything I Ate: A Year in the Life of My Mouth by Tucker Shaw. So here I am.

So here it is. An HONEST listing of everything that I eat, every day of my life...for a while, anyway. Perhaps it will be entertaining. Maybe it will keep me honest. I don't know, but I am going to give it a shot...

Here I go!
